To provide protection and peace of mind, Asian Tigers K. C. Dat’s Risk Management policy provides door-to-door coverage of your goods, including damage and loss arising from mould and mildew, imbalance of pairs and set, electrical and mechanical derangement.

Taking time to understand and to incorporate Risk Management / Insurance into your international or local move is important. This is for the protection of your goods in the event of accidents that may occur during transit.

Our Risk Management policy covers every mode of transportation from your Singapore address to your new home. This includes the coverage of the first 60 days of professional storage at either origin and/or destination, so you will only need to purchase an extension if you require storage for over 60 days at either side.

Our policy does not cover jewelry, currency, watches, coins and stamp collections, nor any negotiable instrument. Although the standard policy also does not cover damage and loss arising from mould and mildew, mechanical and electronic derangement (internally), or replacement of an entire set (when only part of the set is damaged), Asian Tigers K. C. Dat and Willis Transportation Risks will offer additional protection should you feel a need for extra coverage. The following information is helpful:

Detailed Replacement Valued Inventory
It is imperative that you take some time to prepare a detailed valued inventory of your household items. You may choose to use the form given to you by Asian Tigers K. C. Dat or prepare your own valued inventory on a separate sheet. Remember to insure all the goods in your shipment. The quoted rates will not apply if you choose to insure only fragile or high-valued items.

Remember also to value your possessions based on their approximate replacement value at your destination country. The price of that ceramic stool you bought in Singapore, for example, may be doubled if you replace it in New York or London.

Note: If you prepare your own inventory, you will still need to sign both the Risk Management application and your inventory: Put a mark on the application to say: “Per attached valued inventory.”

Major Electronics Items
Please include the brand name and model number with your description. Note that the internal workings of electronics are only covered in the event of physical damage to the item. For additional coverage for “Mechanical and Electrical Derangement”, please refer to the section on “Optional Coverage”.

Rare Antiques and Artwork
For especially valuable single pieces, you should have a professional appraisal of the value for your records. Special packing and crating of such items will be arranged accordingly by Asian Tigers K. C. Dat’s expert packers and carpenters. If the value of your certified antiques exceeds US$50,000, you may require additional coverage. Please enquire if you have questions about antiques.

Self-Packed Items
If you wish to pre-pack some items yourself, please leave the cartons open for our staff to check. This is important for both insurance and destination custom’s purposes. Labeling items “PBO” (packed by owner) limits or cancels the coverage on that item and invites extra inspections by customs officers.

Risk Management Extension for Storage
Your goods will be automatically covered for the first 60 days while in storage at origin and destination provided your goods are stored in a professional moving company warehouse. Should you need to store your goods for more than 60 days, you will need to apply for a Risk Management extension. An extension form will be provided with your policy. There will be a nominal charge for Risk Management extensions.

Take Photos
Although unnecessary, you may wish to take photos of your household goods, or video tape the contents for your own reference. This is especially recommended for expensive antiques or artwork.

Read the Risk Management Policy Terms and Conditions
The above tips are not a replacement for reading your policy. If you have any questions about the ‘fine print’, please ask your Move Consultant for assistance.

In the Event of a Claim
Complete instruction is included in the Application for Risk Management booklet. Please report any damage of goods to the delivery agent prior to their departure from your residence and note any damages on the packing list or delivery receipt. There are time limits for submitting claims – please keep this in mind.

Optional Coverage for your Household Goods
The following options incur slightly higher premiums above the normal flat rate quoted for the Risk Management policy.

Mould & Mildew Coverage
The standard Risk Management policy does not cover damage caused by mould and mildew (“atmospheric or climatic conditions”). As Singapore has a very humid climate, if you plan on storing your goods for any length of time in Singapore, coverage for Mould & Mildew is recommended.

Mechanical & Electrical Derangement Coverage (exclude Plasma TV)
The standard Risk Management policy only covers damages that occur as a result of evident physical injury to electronic or mechanical items. If you wish to have coverage for malfunctions of the “internal workings” of your stereo, television, computer, washing machine, or similar items, Mechanical and Electrical Derangement coverage is recommended. All items must be proven to be in working condition prior to packing.

Pairs & Sets Coverage
The standard Risk Management policy only covers for the value of the individual items damaged or lost and will not compensate for the total value of a set. Pairs & Sets coverage provides compensation up to replacement for the whole set, should only part of the set be damaged and not repairable or replaceable. Label such items in your values inventory as “Set” or “Pair”. (Should you be fully compensated for an entire set due to one or more damaged pieces, the insurance company should retain ownership of the remaining incomplete set.)

Note: To initiate any of these options, please check the appropriate box on the Quotation Acceptance Form.
